      It's a long damn story, but the short is that while he was still around, if any APOers ever called his other fraternity a frat, he would be ENRAGED and tell us we were being disrespectful for calling it a frat. We were like, whatever Trevor, for the most part... but we had to deal with him in the meantime :/

      Man am I glad this guy is gone.

      supposedly it just gives a negative connotation?

      I don't know about you, but I think the same thing whether I hear 'frat' or 'fraternity', but that's just me.
